Weathering Through Your Spiritual Drought
Spiritual Drought
I plan to resume my regular style of blogs soon. I have been in what you could refer to as a spiritual drought lately. I’m sure we have all been here at one point or another. Where you just need it to rain some God in your life. When you feel so far from God but you’re not sure why.
Dive into His Word Daily
The best thing to do in these times is to continue to seek God. Continue to dive into his word. Pray daily. Surround yourself with prayer warriors to help you through these times. Life isn’t always going to be easy. You are always going to be exposed to spiritual attacks.
Put Full Faith and Confidence in Him
When those moments happen, remember whether or not you feel near to God, He is always near to you. Sometimes your faith needs to be tested so it can grow. We may not be able to see the bigger picture, but He can. This is where faith comes in. Trusting Him and putting your full confidence in Him knowing He is there with you in your storm.
Pray and Fast
Try reading plans, bible study, and be sure to stay in church in these times. Have people praying for you. I’m a strong believer in prayer. I’ve seen people’s entire lives turned around from one prayer. Never lose the value of how important and effective prayer and fasting are.
Ask, Seek, and Knock
In Luke, Jesus tells us to ask and it shall be given, seek and we shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you. That everyone who asks will receive and everyone who seeks will find and to us, that knock it shall be opened. Keep seeking. Never get tired of chasing God and obeying Him. You will see His will fulfilled in your life.
This is Temporary
God has given us the power to tread on the enemies’ attacks and assures us that they will not harm us by any means. The attack you are going through is temporary. This attack will not harm you, it will not make you weak and cannot separate you from the love of God.
The Authority is in His Name
Trust in His word during your trials. You don’t have to be around someone who you feel is Godly. God is within you as much as He is in that person. By calling on the name of Jesus you have the same authority because it’s by His name authority is given, not ours. The enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy. Recognize his attacks so you can fight back with the armor of God.
The Great I Am
It’s important to remember for your prayers to be effective you must be obeying God’s word. God hears those who follow His will. There’s nothing He can’t do. Jesus is the great I am. He is the bread of life, the light of the world, the gate for the sheep, the good shepherd, the resurrection and the life, the way, the truth, and the life, and the true vine. He says he knows His sheep and says I am known to mine.
His Presence is With You
In this, He’s explaining He knows who His people are and His people know Him. He knows His people by their obedience and faith in Him. God promises to show you what to do. So don’t feel like you have to stay in your storm. God will pull you out as long as you keep pursuing Him and His holiness. He says in Exodus His presence shall go with thee and He will give thee rest. His presence is within you. You will find rest once you’ve weathered your storm.
His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us.
Acts 17:27
Confess. Repent. Be Cleansed.
In Acts 17:27 He assures us He is not far from any one of us. So next time you feel far remember His word. It goes on in John to says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”. You have been forgiven once you asked for forgiveness. Don’t allow the enemy to be lord over your mind filling you with guilt and regret of your past mistakes.
God Will Not Abandon You
Let God cleanse you from all your unrighteousness. Who the Son sets free is free indeed. You are free. Don’t feel trapped by your circumstances. God is bigger and stronger than anything in your life. Have faith, believe, and be obedient. God knows your heart, He knows your pain, He hears your prayers and sees your tears. He has not and will not abandon you. God delights in showing unfailing love. You won’t stay in your spiritual drought long if you set your eyes on His Kingdom first.
