Daily Prayer for Pride

Dear Lord,
I come to you seeking humility. James says you oppose the proud but give grace to the humble. I ask you to humble me in all areas of my life where I have become prideful. None of my achievements come from me alone but from your grace and blessings. Everything I have comes from your blessings upon my life.

Proverbs says pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. I seek the wisdom that comes with humility. Proverbs goes on to say that pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall. I ask that I be humbled so it does not affect your blessings in my life, those around me, or lead me to destruction.

Pride often comes with conflict such says Proverbs 13:10, “Pride leads to conflict; those who take advice are wise“. I do not wish to be so prideful or arrogant that I decline the wisdom that you or others have to offer me. I know that pride causes conflict and I wish to be free of the pridefulness within me.

Again, in Proverbs, you mention pride by saying, “Pride ends in humiliation, while humility brings honor“. I do not wish for my prideful thinking to bring forth humiliation, but instead to be humbled and my humility to bring honor. I wish to bring honor and glory to You and Your Word, and I cannot do that if I am prideful.

Pride gets in the way of me being a humble servant for you. Take my life in your hands and humble me before your throne. You mention pride often as you knew it was something we would struggle with. Show me in which ways I am prideful that I may not even see and give me the wisdom and grace to change my ways.

Forgive me for being prideful because you deserve all the glory. It is when I think I have accomplished things out of myself, and not of you, that I know I am wrong; for you are the reason for all of my blessings. Do not allow me to be entangled by pride as it leads me into a trap. I ask to be set free from my pride.

I seek to be humbled before you because…

you say I am Loved.

I am fearfully and wonderfully made

I am chosen.

I am dead to myself and alive to the power of God

Because you sit on the throne now and forever, I will be humble.

In your name I pray,

Amen

I pray you enjoyed this prayer for pride. We all at some point in life need to be humbled. Give thanks to God for all He has done and continues to do. It is to Him we owe our lives to.
