Daily Prayer for Lust

Lord, today I come to you as I am struggling with lust. The enemy is trying to attack me spiritually by consuming my mind with lustful thoughts. I know these thoughts are unrighteous and I come in Jesus’ name that they be cast down and wiped from my mind.

In John, your word says, “For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world“. I stand firm on your truth and your word, and I recognize my lust is ungodly and comes from the world.

I come to you to be set free from the bondage of lust and to break the power it has over my life. Please help me to walk by the spirit as Galatians says, “walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh”. I do not want to give in to lust or have thoughts of lust controlling my life. Whether it be lust for money, sex, drugs, or any other worldly things, I rebuke it in your holy name.

Colossians says, “put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry“. I ask for your strength to put to death these earthly things that linger within me. For I long, not to serve this world, but to serve you. I strive to have a clean mind that is righteous unto you.

“So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.”

2 Timothy 2:22

 Knowing your word in Timothy, help me to run from these wicked things that come from my lust and instead, pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace. Lord, help me to have a pure heart, for I know one cannot have a pure heart without you. For only with you, do I have the power over the enemy and sin.

When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.”

James 1:13-15

Help me to not be led by my own desire for what my flesh desires is wicked and displeasing to you. Do not allow my desire to give birth to sin as it brings forth death. Instead, let my desire be only for you as you give life everlasting.

^“Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.  

Galatians 5:19-21

I long to inherit your kingdom. Put to bed all things that are displeasing to you that lives within me, or that have come in through my lust. In Thessalonians, it says, “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God; knowing this, may I love for your will and be sanctified by your blood“.

Bless me with the fruits of the spirit and self-control. May I control my mind, eyes, body, and thoughts from lust and sin. I want any lustful thoughts to be displeasing to me as they are to you. I do not want to live like the gentiles who do not know God, for I do know you.
Lord, from this day forward may the power of lust and my fleshly desires be put to death and may only your will and your word live and shine through me.

Because I am chosen.

I am loved.

I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

I am dead to myself and alive to the power of God. 

Because you sit on the throne now and forever, the power of lust is broken in my life.

Though I may be tempted, I will choose to serve you instead of my flesh from this day forward.
